Why You Need To Be Buying Tom Brady

Tom Brady should be a heavy target for almost any contending team in both Superflex and 1QB.

Unless your quarterback situation contains Patrick Mahomes, Kyler Murray, Josh Allen, or Lamar Jackson, Brady should be in heavy consideration. The 43 year-old has posted career numbers after his Sunday Night embarrassment against the Saints.

Since that night, Brady had accumulated 2235 yards, 21 total touchdowns, and five interceptions through seven games played. That averages out to 319 yards, three touchdowns, and 0.7 interceptions per game. That equates roughly to 29 fantasy points per game in six point-per passing TD formats.

While Brady did accomplish these numbers against relatively weak defenses, his numbers during that span were so dominant that even after a drop off he would be an elite option. For reference, Josh Allen, the overall QB1 in 2020, averaged 25.3 fantasy points per game. It’s also worth noting that Brady’s schedule this year is also relatively light.

Brady has also said he was “still trying to figure out how to call the plays,” halfway through the season. It’s well known that quarterbacks often struggle in their first year under Arian’s system, and coupled with a COVID-19 riddled offseason Brady overperformed expectations heading into this year.

The Buccaneers have also returned all 22 of their starters, and every significant offensive player. Antonio Brown, who joined halfway through the season, will receive a full offseason to further ingrain and familiarize himself in the offense.

Even though Brady is 43 years old, he has shown no sign of regression. While he could finally fall off a cliff, he should be an elite starting option in 2021, and at least a low end starter or streamer in 2022.

Brady could be the difference maker for a championship team, especially in Superflex leagues, and should therefore be heavily targeted in trades.
