Sleeper Picks for Week 9

Drew Lock @ ATL

Lock was able to lead the Broncos to a big comeback win against the Chargers last week. Now he should finally have some good momentum heading into this week’s game against the Falcons. This is a great matchup for Lock, with the Falcons giving up the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks through eight weeks. Atlanta is giving up 2.5 passing touchdowns per game, which leaves a good floor for Lock to hit. He has also thrown 81 passes the past two weeks, which gives reason that he can finish in the QB8-12 range. If he can match what he did in the second-half of last week’s game, Lock could be in for a vert solid fantasy day. I see him as a high-end QB2, low-end QB1 for week nine.

Damien Harris @ NYJ

The Patriots have been an abysmal passing offense this season. Newton has only thrown more than 28 passes in a game once, and has only had more than 17 completions once. But what has been a little more successful has been their running game. It’s been the only way the Pats’ can put points on the scoreboard. It seems like Damien Harris has taken the role as the Patriots #1 rushing option, at least the past two weeks have shown us this. He’s received 55% of the teams rushing attempts the past two weeks. Harris is averaging 5.3 YPC, and had his second 100-yard rushing game last week. In a game script that should favor Harris’ workload, Harris should have a solid fantasy day for his managers.

Russell Gage vs. DEN

Gage has been a frustrating player to own this year. Going from 21 targets the first two weeks to 25 in the last six weeks was not good. But in fantasy football, we look for the opportunities for good games. This week could be a great week for Gage. The Broncos has a really good rushing defense, so Gurley and Hill should have a tough time running the ball. Matt Ryan should have to rely on passing the ball to win this game. With Ridley missing time with a foot injury, that promotes Gage to the WR2 of the team. We should see Gage get more than his usual amount of targets in this game. Maybe we’ll see the Gage we saw in the first two weeks of the season.

Eric Ebron @ DAL

The Dallas Cowboys are allowing 111.07 fantasy points per game to opposing skill position players, and will using a practice squad quarterback against the potent Steelers defense. Needless to say, Pittsburgh should run away with this game pretty early. This makes Ebron an almost must start in all league formats. There is just to much potential volume to be had for all of the Steelers pass catchers. Ebron stays on the field, playing in 84% and 85% of the teams snaps the past two weeks. He’s averaging 5.7 targets a game since the Steelers bye week. He’s been a steady tight end streamer in 2020, with a safe floor and a solid ceiling each week. I’ll be firing him in my lineups anywhere I have him.
