Buy Clyde Edwards-Helaire in Dynasty RIGHT NOW

Clyde Edwards-Helaire

It’s crazy how the consensus RB1 in rookie drafts last season is now almost completely forgotten about at the end of the year. That is nonsense, and I won’t be having any CEH slander on my watch.

It’s fair to say that he had a disappointing season compared to his fellow rookie running backs. I feel like that’s the main reason why Helaire is being deemed as a sell now, or has no upside. I see the opposite of that, I think he is a must-buy at his current cost. Even though he didn’t reach the ceiling that he was drafted at, he showed the talent this season to warrant getting more touches and opportunity’s in 2021.

Helaire played in 13 games, and averaged 13.5 PPR fantasy points a game, and finished as the RB22. In any other season, that would be a great season for a rookie running back. He was averaging 4.1 targets a game, and had 4.4 yards per carry. If he had kept up the same production he had through the first half of the season, I have no doubt that he would have been a top-12 fantasy running back.

Sadly, the Chiefs signed Le’Veon Bell after the New York Jets cut him, and that really hampered with Helaire’s snap share. Bell and Helaire were splitting carries 50/50, and this really ruined his ceiling during the back-half of the season. Good news though, Bell will be an unrestricted free agent in 2021. If the Chiefs don’t resign him, Helaire is back to being the featured back, and would have a season in the books so this coaching staff can have trust in his abilities.

The biggest reason why I love Helaire is because he is tied to Patrick Mahomes and this Chiefs dynasty for at minimum the next four years. Add to that his amazing pass-catching ability and his upside of being a top end RB1, we have a must buy player here in Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
